As a church we believe we have a role to play in supporting the many charities that undertake invaluable work to make this world a better place. Each year we choose two charities to support both in terms of raising money and their profile. Over the coming year we will be holding various fundraising activities, as well as promoting their life-saving activities.

Smile Train is the world’s largest cleft-focused organisation, with a sustainable and local model of supporting surgery and other forms of essential, comprehensive care. Since 1999, we have supported safe and quality cleft care for 1.5+ million children and will continue to do so until every person in need with a cleft has access to the care they deserve.
Many Unitarians will aim to give humanitarian help to Ukraine. Choice of charity is clearly a personal decision but it may be of interest to note that the value of any monies given to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) ‘Ukraine Humanitarian appeal’ will be doubled by government funding. The UK government website states “The UK Government will match public donations to this appeal pound-for-pound up to £25 million”. Website address for online donations is: www.dec.org.uk/Ukraine
