Heathers Cancer Care Group
On the first and third Monday afternoon of each month (excluding Bank Holidays) a small and friendly group of people meet in the Unitarian Church Hall to provide emotional and practical support to anyone affected by cancer. Heathers Horsham Cancer Support is part of the Macmillan Cancer network and is managed by trustees, all of whom have personal experience of cancer in one way or another. The group provides a safe place where people at any point on a cancer journey can come and share their experiences with others in a similar situation. More information about Heathers Horsham Cancer Support can be found here on the Macmillan Cancer Support Page.
Unity Players is a small music and drama group under the direction of Barbara Meaghan LLCM (TD), retired singing and drama teacher. Our membership consists of Horsham Unitarian Church and non-Church members and is open to all. We rehearse on Friday evenings between 7pm and 9.pm. Our productions are mainly light-hearted cabaret-style shows. We raise money for the Church’s nominated charities which are chosen each year by the Church Members. If you would be interested in learning more, please telephone Barbara Meaghan on 01403 754805, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
Tai Chi group on a Thursday 1.30pm to 3.00pm
T’ai Chi Ch’uan is an ancient Chinese Taoist exercise system which is concerned with the promotion of health on all levels of being physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Outwardly its movements – slow and graceful are aesthetically pleasing to watch, while at a deeper level it develops internal forces which may be applied in healing as well as in self-defence.
T’ai Chi also tones and strengthens the organs and muscles, increases vitality, induces relaxation of mind and body, and improves the internal circulation. It differs from the ‘hard’ styles of martial disciplines – which depend on power and speed in that it is a ‘soft’, ‘internal’ system which ‘yields’ to overcome or neutralise.
